New TCIL Mountain Trike Hire Service Launched!

Following a successful match funding bid to Public Health, we have launched a new Mountain Trike Hire Service, which offers 2 all-terrain off-road wheelchairs for hire.

Mountain Trikes @ TCIL

The initiative is designed to promote improvement in both physical and mental wellbeing of disabled adults which we believe will assist in increasing social inclusion, participation, life expectancy as well as quality of life.

The initiative will focus upon expanding:

The breadth of the opportunities for activity and exercise which we currently offer disabled people, and to continue to build upon the Legacy of London 2012.
Mobility, activity and increasing independence of Disabled People, the Trikes will increase the accessibility of Thurrock as a whole.
The Mountain Trike Hire Service is aimed at disabled people (of any impairment type) and offers the Trikes for hire, details are available from the links below:

Health, Wealth & Your Money Event

Come along to the "Health, Wealth & Your Money" Event on Carers Rights Day, in association with CARIADS.

Friday 28th November 2014 from 9:30am to 12:30pm at The Beehive

To raise awareness and provide information and advice to disabled people, carers, family members, older people on issues of health, wealth and your money, helping people to make their money go further, financial safety, lone sharks, safeguarding, lasting power of attorney, credit unions, welfare reform, welfare benefits, rights, entitlements, income maximisation and how people can mitigate cumulative impact of welfare reform

Stands by other local organisations will be available to provide carers with advice and information. 

Three voluntary sector organisations are coming together as Cariads - they are Thurrock Mind, Thurrock Lifestyle Solutions CIC and the Thurrock Centre for Independent Living.

TCIL Sensory Event, Report & Recommendations now available

The Event Report from the TCIL Sensory Event (April 2013) is now available online. Click here to download the document

The Steering Group hopes to hold similar events in the future, alternating between events for individuals and networking opportunities for professionals and organisations to strengthen communication and raise awareness in Thurrock.

The TCIL Sensory Event

TCIL is holding a Sensory Event in the borough on 11th April 2013 at Thurrock Adult Community College 1pm to 7:00pm

The event is being supported by Thurrock Council and will have input from individuals, carers and family members and local organisations, including Thurrock Community Business Radio (TCBR).
